The Theta Nu chapter was chartered on November 16, 1980, at the University of Pittsburgh's Heinz Chapel by 5 illustrious women: Dayna Hassell, Karen Robinson, Karla Milton, Dianne Robinson, and Tracey Brown. Since then, there has been a long legacy of outstanding women inducted into this wonderful organization. Pitt S.G.Rhos continue to carry on the qualities, dedication, and heart for service that are synonymous with the name of Sigma Gamma Rho.

Soror Vanetta Cheeks Reeder served as the Syntaktes (Director) of the Northeastern Region, and as a past President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
